Why Marches? The term Marches is from the 13th-century Middle English marche ("border region, frontier"). The Welsh Marches (Welsh: Y Mers) is an imprecisely defined area along the border between England and Wales in the United Kingdom.

We are based on the welsh border in Shropshire... The area is often referred to as "Shropshire & the Marches". So there you go!
